FAQ

  • Buying & Stock

Is it better to buy a New or Refurbished stove?
It depends on your goal. Our New stoves feature the latest 2026 Eco-Design technology for maximum efficiency. Our Refurbished stoves are premium, "overbuilt" classic models (like Clearview or Charnwood) that we have restored to a better-than-new standard. Both are excellent investments for longevity and heat output.

    What does "Awaiting Refurbishment" mean?
These are stoves currently in our workshop inventory that haven't been restored yet. This gives you the chance to "commission" a stove. We will fully sandblast, service, and refinish the model specifically for you before delivery.

Can I view a stove before buying?
As a working workshop rather than a retail showroom, viewings are available by appointment only at our Dover base. We also provide high resolution photos and video walk arounds for our nationwide and Ireland customers to ensure total confidence before purchase.

  • How will my stove be delivered?

For the majority of the UK mainland, we aim to deliver your stove in person. We travel to most locations to ensure your stove is handled with expert care and arrives exactly when you expect it. In instances where we cannot deliver personally, we use a trusted, specialist courier who is experienced in transporting heavy cast iron.

    Do you deliver to Ireland?
Yes. For all orders to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, we use a dedicated specialist courier service. Every stove is professionally crated and fully insured to ensure it arrives in showroom condition. We handle the logistics and coordinate with the courier to keep you updated on the arrival of your stove.

Can I choose a specific delivery time?
For our in-person UK deliveries, we work directly with you to arrange a day and a specific time slot that suits your schedule. For deliveries to Ireland via our courier, we provide tracking details and coordinate the delivery window to make the process as smooth as possible.

  • Do you offer on-site refurbishments?

Yes, refurbishments can be carried out on-site.
While we recommend removing the burner for sandblasting to achieve the cleanest possible surface for repainting, on-site refurbishments remain a more budget-friendly option and can still be completed to a high standard.

  • Do you offer log burner installs?

Elms Burners operate on a supply-only basis; however, we are happy to offer trusted third-party recommendations for installations within Kent and surrounding areas.

  • Technical & Regulations

Can I use these stoves in a Smoke Control Area (DEFRA)?
Most modern new stoves and many of our premium refurbished models are DEFRA exempt and legal for use in smoke-controlled zones like London. Please let us know your location, and we will ensure the stove you choose is compliant with your local 2026 regulations.

What is involved in the refurbishment process?
We don't just "tidy up" stoves. We perform a full technical restoration: stripping the unit, sandblasting to raw metal, replacing all consumable parts (ceramic glass, rope seals, firebricks), and finishing with high-temperature specialist paint.

  • Do you offer annual service?

    Yes, we offer annual servicing.
Regular servicing not only extends the life of your stove but also ensures optimal heat output and keeps your appliance compliant with safety regulations. It's just as important as having your chimney swept and should be part of your yearly maintenance routine.
